I've always been someone willing to take risks. Back home in Romania, I started cutting my friends hair as a hobby. A few months in, I found myself wanting more - A Change or a New Direction?! So I got my passport ready and set my sights on chasing my version of the "American Dream", but life had other plans for me.

One day, while scrolling through Gumtree online, I stumbled upon an advert from someone in Aberdeen, Scotland who was looking for experienced Barbers. They were offering to pay for flights, accommodation and a chance to work. Something I couldn't afford on my own at the time to enable me to take such a risk with. It felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity, So I took the chance! I told this person I was highly skilled as a barber with years of experience, even though I was just starting out.

When I arrived, It didn't take long for him to realise the truth - I wasn't the barber I'd claimed to be. But luckily for me, he wasn't angry and gave me a chance. Encouraging me, training me and mentoring me to become the barber I am today - the one I made out to be at the beginning of my story.

Years later, life  brought us back together, however this time the roles had changed. I was now in a position to offer him a helping hand. That moment reminded me of a powerful truth -  The carousel of life never stops spinning. What goes around always comes back around. Believe in yourself and with the right support - You can become whatever you want.
